HOUSE KR

Vorderburg is an elongated Allgäu street village on the connecting road from Rottachsee to Grünten on the southern slope of the Rottachberg. In an unpretentious rural village structure, which has so far been largely spared the blessings of the DIY market palettes, the building site slopes away from the local thoroughfare to the east and offers an unobstructed view over meadow hills to the Allgäu mountains. A simple, elongated, wooden building volume reflects the rural surroundings and responds with a contemporary solid timber house.

From the basement - dug into the slope as a concrete enclosure - the timber construction cantilevers upwards on the valley side. Its structural design consists of a modular column/girder system extending below the open roof space and thus automatically entails the floor plan layout and the generous glazing along the two long sides. The completely solid wood character in silver fir on the outside and inside creates a warm, cozy atmosphere without falling into a superficial homely atmosphere. The completely biologically high-quality construction, including wood-clay insulation, is complemented by heating via a geothermal heat pump/deep borehole.
